About the role
Responsibilities
- Complete safety and security assignments and respond to emergency and crisis incidents during assigned 3rd shift rotations.
- Ensure a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors through regular campus and building patrols.
- Manage access control, perform after-hours property checks, and respond to fire or security alarms.
- Act as a first responder for various calls and assist with dispatching and transportation services.
- Support university operations by producing University Identification cards and assisting other departments.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with high levels of discretion.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in law enforcement, campus safety, or a university campus environment.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing for significant periods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with security systems or radio communications.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and make sound decisions under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in CPR, First Response, Mental Health First Aid, or OSHA.
- Experience with dispatch communication platforms and scheduling software.
