Campus Safety Event Officer

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible presence to promote safety and create a welcoming atmosphere for all attendees.
• Provide security, safety, and assistance to students, staff, and visitors during athletic events and other campus functions.
• Assist with parking operations, including directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic in stadium areas.
• Provide emergency medical response to sick or injured individuals.
• Coordinate parking and special accommodations for attendees with specific needs.
• Deliver clear, professional communication with event staff, attendees, and partner agencies.
• Support outside law enforcement and first responders during incidents on college property.
• Assist with crowd management, crowd control, and evacuation procedures when required.
• Participate in operational trainings and meetings as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of prior law enforcement, security, or military experience (experience as a probationary officer or dispatcher is also acceptable).
• Strong reading and comprehension skills to understand written and verbal instructions and policies.
• Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate reports and communications.
• Excellent verbal communication skills to explain rules and policies to individuals and groups.
• Demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy, and tact when maintaining order.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Proven de-escalation abilities to manage tense or volatile situations.
• Proficiency in radio communication to receive and relay information clearly.
