Campus Safety Event Officer

Responsibilities

• Patrol and inspect assigned event areas to ensure the safety and security of people and property
• Respond quickly and professionally to emergencies, including rendering first aid, CPR, or AED as necessary
• Manage and control traffic, crowds, and unruly or intoxicated individuals during special events
• Enforce university regulations, vehicle and traffic laws, and local, state, and federal laws
• Communicate effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and visitors
• Collaborate with university staff to promote an inclusive campus community culture

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid NYS driver’s license with a responsible driving history
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to patrol on foot, drive a patrol vehicle, and climb stairs
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods and perform duties in a busy, stressful environment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a campus safety or security officer
• Experience working in a college or university environment
• Knowledge of local and state laws
• CPR, EMT, and First Aid certifications
