About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors through systematic monitoring of campus grounds and buildings.
- Patrol campus property on foot and by vehicle to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions.
- Respond to calls for service, emergency situations, and monitor police/fire radio channels and emergency phone lines.
- Provide basic first aid during emergencies and alert additional emergency personnel as needed.
- Perform building security tasks, including locking and unlocking facilities at specified times.
- Manage crowd control at special events and perform traffic control duties, including issuing parking citations.
- Prepare written reports, collect evidence, and gather statements regarding criminal acts or policy violations.
- Provide excellent customer service through proactive interaction with the campus community.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a clear criminal background check.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand or walk constantly for up to 12 hours and work in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
- Prior experience in law enforcement or security training.
- CPR, First-Aid, and AED training or certification.
