Campus Safety Ambassador

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors through systematic monitoring of campus grounds and buildings.
• Patrol campus property on foot and by vehicle to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions.
• Respond to calls for service, emergency situations, and monitor police/fire radio channels and emergency phone lines.
• Provide basic first aid during emergencies and alert additional emergency personnel as needed.
• Perform building security tasks, including locking and unlocking facilities at specified times.
• Manage crowd control at special events and perform traffic control duties, including issuing parking citations.
• Prepare written reports, collect evidence, and gather statements regarding criminal acts or policy violations.
• Provide excellent customer service through proactive interaction with the campus community.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a clear criminal background check.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stand or walk constantly for up to 12 hours and work in various outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
• Prior experience in law enforcement or security training.
• CPR, First-Aid, and AED training or certification.
