Campus Recreation Operations/Fitness Center Intern

Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily operations of the fitness center and recreation facilities
• Provide front-desk support, including customer service and membership check-in
• Supervise recreation spaces to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment
• Support equipment maintenance, organization, and cleanliness of fitness spaces
• Enforce facility policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Assist with opening and closing procedures for recreation facilities
• Support staffing operations, including monitoring student staff schedules and on-shift supervision
• Assist with the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of student employees
• Recruit participants and promote fitness and recreation programs through campus outreach and marketing
• Plan, assist with, and lead fitness classes and staff wellness programs as appropriate
• Support administrative tasks such as data entry, usage reporting, and inventory tracking

Requirements

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in exercise science, sport management, recreation, health sciences, or a related field
• Availability to work nights and weekends consistent with facility hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in campus recreation, fitness center operations, or wellness programming
• Experience leading or assisting with fitness classes or group exercise
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to recruit, motivate, and supervise student employees
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Exposure to collegiate recreation or fitness environments
