Campus Police Officer

Responsibilities

• Maintain a secure campus environment by patrolling buildings and adjacent areas
• Provide protection and security for persons, facilities, and property
• Enforce University policies, department rules, and city ordinances
• Investigate crimes or other incidents and take appropriate legal action, including making arrests
• Provide emergency medical assistance and respond to emergency situations
• Perform administrative duties and complete accurate documentation and reports
• Interact positively with students, faculty, staff, and the local community

Requirements

• Several years of experience in law enforcement, preferably in a university setting
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Knowledge of criminal laws, case laws, legal codes, and court procedures
• Ability to pass a criminal background investigation
• Ability to complete the City of New Orleans Special Officers Commission certification and Louisiana POST program within one year of hire
• Physical ability to walk, run, stand for long periods, climb stairs, and lift over 80 pounds
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to serve as essential personnel during inclement weather or emergencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree
