Campus Police Officer

Responsibilities

• Perform campus patrol and security via foot and vehicle to ensure human safety and property security
• Utilize proactive, community-based policing techniques to resolve law enforcement scenarios
• Respond to emergency situations, providing basic first aid and liaising with emergency agencies
• Investigate criminal acts, apprehend suspects, and prepare detailed written reports and evidence collection
• Monitor police/fire radio channels and emergency phone lines to respond to calls for service
• Conduct traffic control, motorist assistance, and crime prevention training programs
• Assist in the training of newly hired Campus Police and Security Officers

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Current NC Law Enforcement Certification or the ability to obtain certification (including completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training)
• Valid NC driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Proficiency with computer skills (Microsoft Word/Excel)
• Ability to work various hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and psychological exam

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in criminal justice or a related field
• Prior professional law enforcement experience
• Certifications in CPR, First-Aid, and/or AED
