Camp Unit Leader

Responsibilities

• Build positive, nurturing relationships with campers to foster character building
• Develop, implement, and manage daily camper group activities and schedules
• Supervise and lead a staff team of Junior Counselors and Counselors
• Lead various camp activities including arts & crafts, STEM, and active games
• Manage camper behaviors using established success and safety plans
• Maintain effective communication with parents regarding camper progress
• Uphold YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Courage

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience working with youth in a camp or similar setting
• Current CPR & First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain certification
• Strong organizational and group management skills
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.)
• Availability to attend required camp trainings before and during the season
• Must be available for the full camp season from 06/22/26 through 08/28/26

Preferred Qualifications

• Some college credits or certifications in a related field
