Camera Systems Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own camera systems end to end, including vendor requirements, sensor selection, hardware bring-up, and software integration
• Work with camera vendors to define requirements for custom cameras, optics, frame rates, and synchronization
• Develop and maintain low-level camera software, including sensor configuration, drivers, and device-tree changes
• Debug camera issues across the hardware/software boundary, including MIPI CSI-2, GMSL, and I2C control
• Design reliable, low-latency camera pipelines for real-time robotic systems
• Build high-level APIs that expose camera frames, timestamps, and metadata to perception and autonomy systems
• Collaborate with perception, robotics, and electrical engineering teams

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Computer Science
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with embedded camera systems and sensor bring-up
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for Linux or performance-sensitive systems
• Experience with camera interfaces such as MIPI CSI-2, I2C, GMSL, or FPD-Link
• Experience developing or modifying Linux camera drivers, device trees, or V4L2 drivers
• Strong understanding of vision requirements including timestamping, synchronization, and latency measurement
• Working knowledge of image sensors and imaging pipelines (Bayer, RAW, YUV/RGB, ISP behavior)
• Proficiency with debugging tools like kernel logs, tracing, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers
