About the role
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively via telephone and live chat to handle various workgroup inquiries including Dog License, Vital Records, and Health Academy
- Provide customer service regarding birth and death certificate processes, including online, mail, and in-person instructions
- Guide customers through the E-vital status portal and assist with email inquiries
- Disseminate public health education information and provide appropriate referrals for counseling and testing
- Assist the public and staff with navigating the NYC DOHMH website
- Maintain and update computerized databases and analyze data for accuracy
- Handle emergencies and other ad hoc assignments
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described
- Or equivalent education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong customer service orientation
- Courteous telephone manner
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Spanish speaking skills
