About the role

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively via telephone and live chat to handle various workgroup inquiries including Dog License, Vital Records, and Health Academy
  • Provide customer service regarding birth and death certificate processes, including online, mail, and in-person instructions
  • Guide customers through the E-vital status portal and assist with email inquiries
  • Disseminate public health education information and provide appropriate referrals for counseling and testing
  • Assist the public and staff with navigating the NYC DOHMH website
  • Maintain and update computerized databases and analyze data for accuracy
  • Handle emergencies and other ad hoc assignments

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described
  • Or equivalent education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Courteous telephone manner
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Spanish speaking skills
