Responsibilities
- Produce compelling, revelatory investigative stories grounded in California with national resonance
- Pitch and cover specific beats, industries, or generalist topics
- Pursue accountability stories through both quick investigations and long-term projects
- Collaborate with team members, the wider newsroom, and other news organizations
- Utilize diverse reporting techniques including data analysis and creative reader engagement
Requirements
- At least five years of experience producing investigative stories
- Proven track record of investigative journalism, ideally within California
- Ability to travel for assignments, training, and staff meetings
- Must be based in California or willing to relocate there
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with exclusive data analyses to underpin stories
- A clear vision for covering California's diverse communities and unique vantage points
