About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical and dimensional calibrations and measurements traceable to NIST and the International System of Units (SI)
  • Calibrate, inspect, and repair a wide range of test, inspection, and measurement equipment, including custom-built systems
  • Support multiple metrology disciplines such as mass, temperature, humidity, vacuum, length, optics, pressure, and torque
  • Create and revise calibration procedures by interpreting manufacturer manuals and laboratory methods
  • Document calibration results accurately in tracking databases and issue Out-of-Tolerance (OOT) or Nonconformance (NC) reports
  • Troubleshoot and repair test and measurement equipment to support research, development, and manufacturing projects
  • Collaborate with engineers to schedule calibration activities and provide guidance on equipment selection
  • Mentor junior technicians and share technical knowledge within the department

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in calibration or metrology
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical aptitude in equipment troubleshooting and setup
  • Strong background in math, statistics, and physics

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of technical school training in electronic or physical calibration (60 semester credits) or equivalent military training (e.g., PMEL)
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Windows OS, and statistical analysis software like Minitab
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint interpretation
  • Experience in medical device or other highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, or ISO 17025 standards
