About the Company

Standard Bots is a New York-based robotics company building AI-powered six-axis robot arms designed and manufactured in the United States. They take a vertically integrated approach—developing their own hardware, software, vision system, and electronics—to make industrial automation accessible and affordable.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings for robotic automation cells, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and custom fixtures using SolidWorks
  • Design for manufacturing constraints including sheet metal, welded fabrications, and machined components
  • Manage bills of materials (BOMs) for sourcing and procurement
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure designs are manufacturable and repeatable
  • Conduct FEA on structural and load-bearing components to validate safety margins
  • Develop full 3D cell layout models accounting for robot reach, safety zones, and operator access
  • Present concept designs and CAD models to customer engineering teams for approval
  • Build and maintain a reusable component library of standard fixturing and EOAT elements

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on CAD design experience in industrial automation, robotics, or custom manufacturing
  • Expert proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Experience designing EOAT, fixtures, or custom automation components
  • Strong GD&T knowledge and experience creating production-ready drawing packages
  • Experience with sheet metal, welded structural steel, and machined parts
  • Ability to work onsite 5 days/week in South East PA

Preferred Qualifications

  • SolidWorks certification
  • Experience with robot simulation tools like RoboDK or DELMIA
  • Background in machine tending, palletizing, or welding automation
  • Familiarity with ANSI and CE machine safety design requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design Technology
