Cable Construction Manager

Responsibilities

• Supervise and deliver key packages of construction projects
• Assist in the production of construction plans and coordination of the Engineering support team
• Procure construction materials and specialist subcontracts
• Support the Site Manager and Project Manager while leading core delivery teams
• Ensure technical solutions on site align with Engineering requirements and management systems
• Manage and coordinate all street works permits
• Manage customer relationships during tender and delivery
• Lead Safety Shield Initiatives and drive continuous improvement across SHESQ

Requirements

• Minimum ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma/apprenticeship) or equivalent experience
• Experience managing sites and field-based staff on cable, substation, or underground cabling projects
• Technical expertise in civil, cable, and/or electrical aspects of cabling projects
• Experience in cable installation, jointing, and testing requirements
• Previous experience working for distribution network operators
• Ability to manage sub-contractors and record measurement details for financial settlement
• Knowledge of street works and Local Authorities permit requirements
• SSSTS (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) accreditation
• CSCS card
• Recognized safety qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH)
• Full UK Driving License

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of NEC3 Form of Contract
• Knowledge of New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA)
• CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
• Scottish Southern Electricity (SSE) System Authorisations
