Buyer/Planner

Responsibilities

• Plan and purchase materials based on production schedules and demand forecasts
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders
• Ensure proper flow down to suppliers of all contract requirements
• Analyze material requirements using ERP/MRP systems
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and expedite critical orders
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules with vendors
• Track supplier performance regarding quality, cost, and on-time delivery
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and warehouse teams
• Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and supplier records
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
• Procure tools, BOM items, and equipment as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2–5+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Epicor)
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or professional certifications
• Knowledge of inventory management and demand planning
• Understanding of lean manufacturing and supply chain principles
• Experience with supplier relationship management
