Buyer I

Responsibilities

• Initiate and monitor open purchase orders to ensure timely receipt and maintain inventory target levels
• Negotiate pricing, delivery, and supplier selection
• Ensure high-level performance of subcontract suppliers based on negotiated contract terms
• Support development activities through direct purchases of raw materials and components for prototypes and pilot production
• Provide support for engineering change orders, non-conformances, and accounting discrepancies
• Assist with implementation of procurement strategies such as supplier consolidation, kanban, and VMI programs
• Manage inventory levels and availability to meet build and launch schedules
• Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal departments including R&D, Quality, and Regulatory
• Assist with the return to vendor (RTV) process and reconciliation
• Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice or billing disputes

Requirements

• Proven procurement, project management, and cost reduction skills
• Working knowledge of MRP software
• Strong analytical skills in forecasting and production needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Visio)
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently or in a team
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience, preferably in a medical device environment
• CPIM certification or similar (APICS, Six Sigma, CPM, CPCM, PMI)
• Experience in process improvement within manufacturing
• Formal project management training
