About the role

Responsibilities

  • Purchase a variety of materials, supplies, and services under general direction
  • Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to ensure timely and cost-effective inventory acquisition
  • Process purchase requisitions, change orders, and requests for quotes
  • Monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate high quality at the best value
  • Evaluate bids, select suppliers, and negotiate price, delivery, quality, and service
  • Interact with suppliers and Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues
  • Conduct supplier site visits to rate production capability, performance, and delivery
  • Manage supplier relations regarding damage claims, rejections, returns, and engineering changes
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Purchasing or as a Buyer
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team player with a willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or Finance
