Responsibilities

• Analyze daily inventory reports to maintain appropriate levels and minimize out of stock issues
• Select and buy products based on procurement programs, quality, and vendor partnerships
• Develop strategies to maximize gross profit by coordinating sales and managing costs
• Recommend and manage merchandise strategies for assigned categories
• Evaluate and select vendors while negotiating product costs
• Establish and maintain mutually beneficial vendor relationships
• Identify new business opportunities aligned with business strategies
• Assist in vendor rebate reconciliation and resolve vendor claims
• Ensure food safety and report any compromises to quality

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing fresh produce
• In-depth knowledge of fresh produce commodities and FOB
• Ability to travel to Mexico 3-4 times per year
• High School diploma
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and 10-key
• Demonstrated proficiency in negotiation techniques
• Background in inventory management, forecasting, and planning
• Strong basic math skills for calculating cases, pallets, and margins
• Bilingual skills, Spanish preferred
