Buyer

Responsibilities

• Purchase and monitor inventories via the buying system to ensure optimum levels within assigned product categories
• Analyze purchasing and sales data, inventories, and vendor issues daily to meet service levels and minimize COGS and warehouse shrink
• Maintain demand planning parameters including price changes, inventory turns, vendor min/max, and lead times
• Proactively predict customer needs and modify ordering system parameters to anticipate demand changes
• Research sources of supply and advise Category Merchandisers on cost-effective alternatives
• Act as a liaison between vendors, brokers, and internal departments to resolve order status and purchasing issues
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures, procurement codes, and audit guidelines

Requirements

• Associate's degree plus 2–4 years of purchasing experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to adapt to new technology
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities
• Strong professional communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in wholesale or retail grocery environments
