About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the operational finance lead for sponsored projects and college operating funds
- Coordinate award set-up, including budget confirmation, spending categories, and project periods
- Monitor monthly financial performance by reconciling actuals to budget and preparing burn-rate reports
- Review and route charges to ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and sponsor terms
- Manage cost sharing, subawards, encumbrances, and sponsor invoicing timelines
- Lead effort certification and commitment tracking for faculty and researchers
- Oversee college business operations including purchasing, reimbursements, travel, and payroll funding
- Implement internal controls and identify process improvements to reduce errors and cycle times
- Act as a primary resource for Principal Investigators (PIs) and departmental coordinators
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or a related field
- 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in post-award grants management or higher-ed finance
- Strong working knowledge of sponsored award lifecycles and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200)
- Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivots, conditional logic)
- Proficiency with enterprise finance/ERP and e-procurement/expense systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a research-intensive university or academic medical/engineering environment
- Familiarity with federal sponsor portals such as Research.gov/NSF or eRA Commons/NIH
- Professional certification such as CRA/CPRA
- Experience with data/reporting tools like Power BI or Tableau
