About the role
Responsibilities
- Advance key initiatives related to the planning, design, and implementation of bus priority projects
- Contribute to proposals for bus lanes, bus queue jumps, bus bulbs, and boarding islands
- Conduct data analysis, including evaluations of bus priority projects and GIS maps
- Perform technical traffic analysis
- Conduct outreach with the general public, community boards, and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with DOT staff and other city, state, and federal agencies like the MTA
Requirements
- Must be serving permanently in the title of City Planner or reachable on the open competitive civil service list for Exam No. 5045
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with transportation or urban planning-related projects
- Proficiency in ArcGIS suite for geographic data collection and analysis
- Experience with traffic analysis
- Familiarity with transit-oriented street design
- Experience with CAD or graphic design software
