Responsibilities

• Set tables, serve meals, and set up dining rooms
• Ensure food safety by following FoodSafe standards and proper handling procedures
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas, including floors, tables, and equipment
• Perform dishwashing duties and assist with cleaning dirty dishes according to standards
• Prepare simple food items such as toast, salad, tea, or coffee
• Assist with ingredient preparation for cooks and help with donation/delivery sorting
• Dispose of food waste in accordance with regulations

Requirements

• High school completion
• At least six months of related kitchen experience, preferably in an institutional setting
• Current FoodSafe and WHMIS certification (or willingness to be trained)
• Ability to pass a criminal record background check
• Availability to work weekends on a casual/on-call basis
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20lbs unassisted
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, diverse environment serving vulnerable populations

Preferred Qualifications

• Training in Naloxone, First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
• Additional language skills
