Bunker Trader

Responsibilities

• Manage a representative office P/L by trading marine fuels and leveraging an existing client base
• Actively broker and trade on behalf of clients to ensure optimum rates for both the company and the customer
• Develop new business through market research, analysis, and cold canvassing
• Prepare and process quotations, sales enquiries, sales confirmations, and contracts
• Monitor customer payments and manage collections for late payments
• Manage claims and disagreements, assisting with legal actions involving customers or suppliers when necessary
• Negotiate rates with suppliers and monitor global market demands

Requirements

• Degree in Shipping or an equivalent qualification
• Proven experience as a Bunker Trader with an international trading company or physical supplier
• An existing client base within the marine fuel industry
• Deep understanding of the international bunker business, including ports, suppliers, owners, and regulations
• Strong negotiation and sales techniques
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and CRM management systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work flexibly, including outside of normal working hours
