Building Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain standard assemblies and details including structural and envelope recipes, exterior wall assemblies, and connection methods
• Own system-level subsystems end-to-end, such as MEPF module interconnect systems and scalable electrical systems
• Lead high-impact system optimization initiatives like enclosed wall panels and structural optimization
• Translate building science and air-tightness goals into buildable details and repeatable processes
• Set product requirement standards for off-the-shelf components like windows and doors
• Serve as a manufacturability gate by reviewing and approving new panel types and assemblies
• Build mockups and first-article prototypes on the factory floor to validate designs
• Design for automation as a first principle to ensure systems are buildable by robots and software
• Maintain change visibility across the organization regarding system updates and impacts

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in construction products, prefab/modular construction, building envelope, or related hardware
• Deep understanding of light wood-frame construction
• Expertise in at least one of: building science, MEP systems, or structural systems
• Systems thinking mindset focused on standardization and platform design
• Hands-on prototyping and validation experience
• Proficiency in CAD (Onshape experience is a plus)
• Strong communication skills to manage relationships between architects, engineers, and operators
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in volumetric modular or panelized construction
• Experience defining product platforms or design systems in manufacturing
• Familiarity with design-for-automation principles
• Field or factory construction experience
