Building Services Officer

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safety and security of people, equipment, and the building during weekend shifts
• Respond to incidents and notify appropriate staff, supervisors, or authorities as required
• Identify and resolve minor building security issues and conduct routine inspections
• Manage conflict and resolve issues within the scope of the role, escalating when necessary
• Provide guidance and direction to event staff (AV, set-up, catering) to ensure standards are met
• Complete accident and incident reports and maintain detailed shift logs
• Control access to designated University spaces and verify visitor membership status
• Liaise between clients and the Facilities department

Requirements

• College Diploma (2 years) in venue management, security, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of three years of related experience in building management
• Proven supervisory skills and the ability to manage conflict and make independent decisions
• Current CPR/First Aid certification
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe PDF
• Strong skills in general repairs and the operation of lighting and audio/visual equipment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with a diverse community
