About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and business leadership in building envelope design, commissioning, and construction services.
- Define project scope and establish design criteria for complex rehabilitation and new construction projects.
- Review design documents, shop drawings, and trade submittals for conformance with water intrusion, air leakage, and thermal performance standards.
- Conduct field reviews and testing of building envelope assemblies to ensure compliance with approved designs.
- Perform forensic analysis of building envelope failures and provide expert advice on construction methods.
- Manage project teams and direct reports, ensuring results are delivered on time and within budget.
- Lead business development efforts, including writing proposals and driving new business opportunities.
- Mentor and train entry-level staff in both technical and non-technical skills.
Requirements
- Registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia (P.Eng).
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Science with a background in Building Science.
- 10+ years of experience in assessing, detailing, testing, or constructing building envelope systems.
- Proven project management experience, specifically managing budgets above $200,000.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, CAD, and/or Revit.
- Valid driver's license and a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
- Ability to work on active construction sites and travel regionally on a weekly basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of advanced flashing, waterproofing, roofing, cladding, rain screens, and air barriers.
- Practical knowledge of energy codes and thermal performance principles.
- Experience conducting technical presentations and providing thought leadership within the building science community.
