Building Operator

Responsibilities

• Monitor, adjust, and maintain mechanical equipment including heat pumps, boilers, air handlers, and pumps
• Perform general maintenance such as minor plumbing and light replacement
• Execute preventative and regular maintenance tasks
• Oversee 3rd party contractors for safe and compliant operation and maintenance
• Respond to fire alarms as part of the fire response team
• Complete assigned work orders within established response time policies
• Prepare quotation letters for chargeable services and monthly tenant service reports
• Adhere to occupational health and safety acts and legislative enactments

Requirements

• Certificate of Building Environmental Systems (Operator Class One & Two), SMT, or Stationary Engineer 4th/5th Class
• 2-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in commercial, laboratory, or industrial environments
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and First Aid/CPR
• Knowledge of Provincial Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, and Provincial Fire Code
• Computer literacy; knowledge of CMMS is an asset
• Ability to work independently and participate in an on-call schedule
