The New York Public Library (NYPL) has been an essential provider of free books, information, ideas, and education for all New Yorkers for more than 100 years. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL) is a state-of-the-art, LEED Silver certified, 180,000 square-foot facility and NYPL’s largest and busiest circulating library.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library
• Conduct routine building inspections and coordinate corrective actions
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems
• Coordinate and monitor work performed by contractors and vendors
• Manage building-related requests, service tickets, and space-use needs
• Support event operations by developing logistical plans and coordinating setup needs
• Maintain building inventory, equipment, and supplies while ensuring cost-effective procurement
• Prepare and monitor schedules for maintenance and custodial staff
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and compliance with applicable codes and regulations
• Lead emergency response efforts for weather events and system failures

Requirements

• Experience managing maintenance and cleaning operations
• Experience supervising staff including scheduling and assigning duties
• Ability to oversee preventive maintenance programs
• Experience managing contractors and vendors
• Knowledge of building mechanical and life-safety systems
