Building Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting systems
• Respond to tenant service requests and troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, equipment readings, and performance
• Conduct property inspections to identify deficiencies and ensure systems meet standards
• Follow safety protocols, OSHA/NEC/NFPA regulations, and wear appropriate PPE
• Assist with preventive maintenance, contractor oversight, and provide guidance to junior technicians
• Communicate professionally with tenants, vendors, contractors, and leadership

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Two to three years of building maintenance or trade experience
• CFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain required licenses
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Outlook and work order systems
• Familiarity with fire/life safety equipment, blueprints, and code requirements
• Ability to read and write English for manuals and reporting
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stoop, crouch, and kneel
• Availability to work after hours, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies
