Building Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient operation and preventative maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for a Class A building
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, building controls, electrical, fire alarm, and suppression systems
• Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, and various mechanical devices
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
• Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, including fire pumps and related equipment
• Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests
• Supervise vendors during building systems testing and tenant buildouts
• Document work orders, gas/water meter readings, and maintenance logs
• Participate in a rotating emergency on-call schedule and occasional overtime

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 2+ years of related experience in a commercial property setting
• Technical, vocational, or on-the-job training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Ability to operate scissor and boom lifts
• Basic computing skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Ability to use technology such as smartphones, tablets, and web-based applications
