Building Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient operation and preventative maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for a Class A building.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, building controls, electrical, fire alarm, and suppression systems.
• Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, and various mechanical devices.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
• Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, including fire pumps and related equipment.
• Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests.
• Supervise vendors during building systems testing and tenant buildouts.
• Document work orders, gas/water meter readings, and maintenance logs.
• Participate in a rotating emergency on-call schedule and occasional overtime.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 5+ years of related experience in a commercial property setting.
• Technical training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Basic computing skills including proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to operate scissor and boom lifts.
• Ability to perform carpentry and snow removal when necessary.
