Building Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and mechanical equipment
• Conduct preventative maintenance on facility equipment and infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and repair building system issues
• Perform general repairs including doors, locks, ceiling tiles, flooring, fixtures, and signage
• Replace lamps, ballasts, and lighting components
• Perform minor plumbing repairs including leaks and clogged drains
• Assist with HVAC maintenance including filter changes and belt replacements
• Maintain compliance with safety regulations and fire/life safety system inspections
• Respond to tenant maintenance requests and coordinate vendor access
• Maintain common areas, restrooms, and corridors
• Complete work orders and maintenance logs

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
• Ability to read basic technical manuals and work orders
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and respond to urgent issues
• Physical ability to operate hand tools, work on ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–5 years of commercial building maintenance experience
• EPA 608 and HVAC certifications
