About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and update BAS surveillance schedules, objectives, and performance reporting
- Partner with Building Operations to develop alarm management strategies and reporting
- Direct analysts in the review and interpretation of BAS data and HVAC control trends
- Provide technical expertise on BAS controls, devices, and control sequences
- Manage Building Automation Systems (BAS) Control Room operations and setup qualifications
- Provide technical consultation for building automation site standards, design, and commissioning
- Participate in the review of building automation design, construction, and commissioning for new or renovation projects
- Ensure automated equipment and occupancy safety systems are monitored and alerts are dispatched per SOPs
- Support campus-wide sustainability efforts in collaboration with the Sustainability Office
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Controls Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Valid Ontario P.Eng. license in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building automation and management systems (design, implementation, or maintenance)
- Experience managing staff within a unionized environment
- Proficiency in DDC (Direct Digital Controllers) such as Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens Desigo, or Honeywell
- Strong knowledge of automation protocols including BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Control Room operations or managing in a control room setting
- Experience with industrial or commercial HVAC instrumentation
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or SAP Asset Manager
