About the role
Responsibilities
- Independently analyze and manage the financial lifecycle of clinical research studies to ensure alignment with departmental goals and sponsor requirements.
- Evaluate study budgets for financial feasibility, identify potential risks, and recommend cost recovery strategies.
- Monitor active study budgets, including resource allocation, prioritization, and adjustments based on operational needs.
- Initiate and implement budget amendments in response to protocol changes or financial variances.
- Negotiate subject compensation and reimbursement models in compliance with institutional guidelines.
- Advise Principal Investigators and research leadership on budget management and financial risks.
- Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, resolving discrepancies and maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with Finance, Sponsored Projects Administration, and the Clinical Trials Office to support standardized financial practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative within a complex matrix environment.
- Ability to follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends in emergent situations if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-4 years of related financial or research administration experience.
- Knowledge of CTMS, Adobe Pro, Velos, and CU Finance Platforms.
