About the role

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze and manage the financial lifecycle of clinical research studies to ensure alignment with departmental goals and sponsor requirements.
  • Evaluate study budgets for financial feasibility, identify potential risks, and recommend cost recovery strategies.
  • Monitor active study budgets, including resource allocation, prioritization, and adjustments based on operational needs.
  • Initiate and implement budget amendments in response to protocol changes or financial variances.
  • Negotiate subject compensation and reimbursement models in compliance with institutional guidelines.
  • Advise Principal Investigators and research leadership on budget management and financial risks.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, resolving discrepancies and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Sponsored Projects Administration, and the Clinical Trials Office to support standardized financial practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative within a complex matrix environment.
  • Ability to follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends in emergent situations if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of related financial or research administration experience.
  • Knowledge of CTMS, Adobe Pro, Velos, and CU Finance Platforms.
