Budget & Contract Specialist

Responsibilities

• Negotiate, prepare and finalize unencumbered grant funding agreements from primary sponsors and collaborating sites
• Support Grant Officers and Specialists in interpreting deemed terms and conditions on grant submissions
• Assist researchers and internal stakeholders in understanding complex budgets, including expense categories and matched funding requirements
• Provide advice on funder/agency budget and related policy requirements to other RSS departments
• Streamline the flow of grant funding among collaborators in a fast-paced environment
• Support determination of special considerations for sensitive data and intellectual property

Requirements

• Master's degree in a health, science-related, or business discipline
• Minimum of one year of practical and related experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and O365
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the healthcare industry or university research service teams
• Familiarity with Tri Agency and NIH processes
• Experience with finance, accounting, and budget management
• Experience with contract and file management systems
