About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist department management in all phases of budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting
- Prepare comprehensive budget request forms and variance reports
- Provide guidance to departmental staff throughout the annual budget process
- Analyze department financial performance against budgets and offer recommendations for adjustments
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts specific to departmental needs
- Maintain detailed records of expenditures and revenue using complex spreadsheets
- Analyze enterprise resource planning (ERP) system issues and recommend solutions
- Conduct ad hoc research, analysis, and auditing projects to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure compliance with budgetary policies
- Support the preparation and maintenance of financial documentation for grant management or contract compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration
- Four years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or a related field
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software and data analysis tools
- Strong knowledge of budgetary principles, financial management, and fiscal analysis methods
- Knowledge of auditing and expenditure control systems and procedures
- Ability to research, compile, and interpret complex financial data
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Experience in public sector financial management or government accounting
