BruinBus Transit Operator

Responsibilities

• Provide driver services for heavy-duty CNG fueled buses, coach buses, trolleys, passenger vans, and cars
• Transport students, staff, faculty, and the public through shuttle programs and charter services both on and off campus
• Maintain safe operation of various passenger vehicles in accordance with the California Vehicle Code
• Establish and maintain tactful, professional relationships with passengers, supervisors, and co-workers
• Maintain accurate and legible logs, records, and vehicle performance monitoring
• Use communication tools including Push To Talk (PTT) radios, cellular phones, and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems
• Utilize mapping tools such as Google Maps or Mapquest for effective event routing

Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of bus driving experience
• Valid Class B California driver's license with air brake and passenger endorsements
• Ability to obtain and maintain a current medical certificate with DMV/DOT
• Knowledge of the California Vehicle Code
• Ability to use mapping tools and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
• Ability to pass a background investigation, drug test, and maintain a satisfactory driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems
• Knowledge of CNG vehicle fueling and fuel monitoring procedures
• Experience operating wheelchair lifts, ramps, and other special equipment
• Familiarity with the UCLA campus, its surroundings, and the greater Los Angeles area
