About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical owner for key broadcast and IT systems, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Lead the planning, technical design, and execution of major local, capital, and corporate engineering projects.
- Make independent decisions regarding system architecture and technical standards within corporate guidelines.
- Proactively identify opportunities for technology upgrades and recommend modernization roadmaps.
- Act as the technical authority and escalation point for engineering staff, providing mentorship and quality reviews.
- Design and approve the integration of studios, control rooms, transmission infrastructure, and automation systems.
- Maintain and upgrade infrastructure including servers, storage, network systems, and backup power systems.
- Ensure strict adherence to FCC regulations, IT security protocols, and disaster recovery readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (equivalent professional experience will be considered).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in broadcast operations or technology.
- Proven track record of leading complex technical projects from design to execution.
- Hands-on expertise with broadcast systems, networking, servers, and desktop support.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under high pressure.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of satellite, microwave, and IP newsgathering technologies.
- Experience coordinating with vendors, IT security, and station leadership.
