Bridge Inspection Team Leader

Responsibilities

• Manage the NC bridge inspection program and perform NBIS element-level condition inspections for state and municipal agencies.
• Plan, coordinate, and document inspections, including the preparation of detailed inspection reports.
• Perform structural analysis, load ratings, and quality control of inspection reports prepared by others.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with NCDOT to communicate field observations and project progress.
• Coordinate with inspection equipment and traffic control vendors.
• Mentor assistant inspection team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5–10 years of experience performing NBIS level bridge inspections, preferably with NCDOT experience.
• NHI-130055 certification (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges) or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in North Carolina or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months.
• Proficiency with WIGINS and Microsoft Office products.
• Valid US driver’s license and experience operating bucket trucks, manlifts, or under-bridge inspection vehicles.
• Ability to work safely at heights, over water, and in traffic-controlled environments.
• Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork throughout NC and other states (DE, MD, PA, TX, VA, WV).

Preferred Qualifications

• NHI-130053 or NHI-130078 certifications.
• Experience with SNBI, GIS applications, or Bentley products.
• Structural analysis, load rating, or design experience.
• FAA Part 107 drone certification.
