Bridge Engineer - Inspection

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering inspections of highway bridges and document defects
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and technical documentation
• Conduct computations to calculate load ratings for various bridge types
• Develop bridge and structural plans for transportation projects
• Prepare designs and contract documents for the repair or replacement of bridge structures
• Provide construction support, including the review of shop drawings
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams for TXDOT and municipal projects

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state as needed
• Ability to perform physical field tasks, including navigating uneven terrain and lifting up to 50 pounds
• Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with TXDOT bridge safety inspections
• Completion of NHI-130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges)
• Hands-on experience with MicroStation, GEOPAK, or Open Bridge software
• Relevant internship experience
