Bricklayer

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction and drainage drawings to determine chamber location, depth, and dimensions
• Measure work areas and set out first courses of bricks or pre-cast concrete rings
• Lay bricks and engineering blocks to construct square, vertical, or circular chamber walls
• Shape and smooth internal chamber floors using mortar and rendering techniques
• Install chamber components including drainage channels, pipe connections, and access covers
• Apply damp-proofing courses, water-resistant renders, and sealants
• Ensure compliance with local building regulations and structural safety standards
• Maintain safety compliance within deep excavations and use proper shoring and PPE

Requirements

• High attention to detail for plumb and level construction
• Familiarity with heavy-duty engineering bricks and mortar ratios
• High physical stamina for lifting heavy blocks and working in confined spaces
• Proficiency with trowels, spirit levels, lasers, and brick-cutting tools
