About the role
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate Breeder/Pullet operations to ensure the production of high-quality hatching eggs.
- Hire, supervise, train, and coach direct reports and contractors to maximize engagement and achieve production goals.
- Manage day-to-day operations, including the oversight of contractors responsible for vaccinating, catching, and hauling live pullets, hens, and cockerals.
- Monitor program costs, budgets, and KPIs to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety/OSHA standards.
- Coordinate environmental management programs including ventilation, lighting, watering, and nesting.
- Manage equipment repairs and departmental scheduling to meet production needs.
- Maintain excellent relationships with the LPP team and contract growers.
Requirements
- Strong background and expertise in animal welfare and biosecurity.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to establish performance expectations and manage people and logistics.
- Experience analyzing reports and creating/maintaining KPI goals.
- Proficiency in budget creation and management.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including long hours or holidays, and in all weather conditions (heat, snow, ice, etc.).
- Valid driver's license to operate company vehicles to and from contract farms.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to make sound decisions and hold teams accountable for results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum AA degree; BS/BA in Poultry Science or an Agriculture Science related major is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience servicing pullets, breeders, or broilers with supervisory and managerial experience.
- Solid knowledge of broiler/breeder management, flock health, and nutrition.
- Experience with Prophix and D365.
