Boring Machine Operator A

Responsibilities

• Operate boring machines to rough out and finish parts, performing milling, reaming, drilling, and tapping operations.
• Review work orders, blueprints, and CATIA plots to identify required setups and apply shop mathematics.
• Set machine coordinates, index points, and cutter offsets using controller keyboards, dial indicators, and probes.
• Download and edit CNC programs, adjusting speeds and feeds within established guidelines.
• Inspect machines for maintenance needs and verify that tools, fixtures, and materials are defect-free.
• Use precision measuring instruments and gauges to check machined parts for dimensional accuracy and finish.
• Secure and fabricate tools, fixtures, and machine attachments using appropriate equipment, including overhead cranes.
• Maintain a safe work environment by handling hazardous materials according to MSDS and using required PPE.

Requirements

• 2+ years of machinist experience.
• 1+ year of experience setting up boring mills and/or jig bore machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and detailed work instructions.
• Experience utilizing precision measuring tools and gauges.
• Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 pounds.
• Must be a "US Person" as defined by export control regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating overhead cranes.
• Experience setting up tooling or sine plates.
• High school graduate or GED.
