Boiler Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair high-pressure steam systems and all associated auxiliary equipment.
• Monitor and control boiler operations through SCADA systems to ensure efficient and safe performance.
• Conduct burner firing operations and manage water softeners, including maintaining salt levels in brine tanks.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical, and mechanical components of steam devices.
• Perform chemical treatments, including testing, mixing, and loading of chemicals.
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and records of plant operations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams to perform repairs and pipefitting.
• Maintain a clean and safe steam plant environment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of formal training programs in high-pressure steam systems.
• At least two years of work experience in a high-pressure steam plant operation.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, bending, reaching, and crawling.
• Ability to work in enclosed spaces and on scaffolding per OSHA guidelines.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Outlook.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work shifting schedules to cover vacancies.

Preferred Qualifications

• City of Philadelphia Stationary Engineers License.
