About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead bio red teaming efforts by shaping evaluation questions, scenarios, and success criteria for biological misuse pathways.
- Review and pressure-test red teaming outputs to translate findings into concise risk calls and actionable next steps.
- Identify new red teaming engagements and external expert collaborations to improve visibility into CBRN misuse risks.
- Manage the Bio Bounty program strategy, including the challenge-question lifecycle, researcher pipeline, and submission review standards.
- Lead final biological-risk reviews on eligible submissions, assessing severity, impact, novelty, and mitigation.
- Partner cross-functionally with Preparedness, Safety Systems, Policy, and Legal teams to turn findings into concrete safety work.
Requirements
- 8+ years of technical CBRN experience.
- Deep subject-matter expertise in biosafety, biosecurity, biodefense, synthetic biology, microbiology, or public health security.
- Experience in red teaming, threat modeling, misuse analysis, or adversarial testing.
- Strong program management or operational experience.
- Ability to communicate complex technical and risk judgments to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Technical fluency to partner with data, engineering, and safety teams on scalable review processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience managing a bounty, vulnerability disclosure, or external researcher program.
- Experience with AI safety evaluations or frontier model risk assessment.
- Familiarity with how advanced AI systems may affect biological safety and CBRN risk.
