Biorepository Technician I

Responsibilities

• Assist in the shipment, receipt, retrieval, and preservation of biological samples
• Monitor freezer, refrigerator, and room temperatures and respond to alarms
• Unpack specimens, record information, and store at appropriate temperatures
• Verify supply shipments against packing lists and quarantine raw materials
• Scan samples into the BSI data management system and perform inventory checks
• Aliquot frozen specimens using aseptic technique
• Pull samples according to requisitions and perform quality control verification
• Ship biological goods via commercial or local couriers following IATA regulations
• Label vials and shipping boxes and perform dry shipper QC

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of general working experience
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Ability to lift and carry 31-50 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs overhead with assistance
• Ability to work in cold freezer environments (-20ºC to -196ºC)
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of relevant laboratory experience
• Basic laboratory skills
• Training in aseptic technique
