Responsibilities

• Initialise analysers daily and prepare them for sample processing
• Perform testing on Abbott Alinity (biochemistry and immunoassay) and Sysmex XN-550 (haematology) analysers
• Validate patient results and escalate clinically anomalous or unexpected findings
• Carry out daily calibration, internal quality control, and routine maintenance
• Work within an ISO 15189-aligned, UKAS-facing quality management system
• Author SOP updates, monitor EQA performance, and support audits
• Contribute to service improvement, including analyser verification and reagent evaluation
• Maintain accurate, auditable records and support performance monitoring
• Provide technical guidance to clinical colleagues and support team training

Requirements

• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
• Minimum one year of post-registration experience in clinical chemistry and immunoassay
• Experience with IQC and EQA practice
• Demonstrable experience operating an integrated clinical chemistry and immunoassay analyser
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently under time pressure

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-registration experience in haematology
• Hands-on experience with Sysmex XN-series and Abbott Alinity ci-series
• Experience in POCT, rapid diagnostics, or high-throughput clinical settings
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
