Biomedical Scientist in Histology

Responsibilities

• Perform histological techniques including embedding, microtomy, staining, and quality control procedures
• Process and analyse tissue samples within a multidisciplinary team
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with protocols and health and safety standards
• Contribute to service development and uphold high standards of laboratory practice

Requirements

• Relevant Biomedical Science degree or equivalent
• Essential experience in a UK-based histology laboratory
• Proficiency in microtomy, embedding, and staining techniques
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and quality assurance procedures
• HCPC registration (required for Band 5 and Band 6 roles)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
