Biologist

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory procedures including cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and gene cloning
• Execute DNA/RNA isolation, purification, and sequencing using Illumina platforms
• Conduct research activities including experiment planning, data collection, and interpretation
• Perform next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis to support Genome Analysis Core (GAC) initiatives
• Manage sequencing project pipelines, including timelines, costs, and stakeholder updates
• Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments in accordance with GLP and SOP guidelines
• Develop and optimize laboratory protocols and SOP documentation for process standardization
• Collaborate with scientists, external research partners, and technical staff
• Train laboratory staff and provide technical guidance on equipment and methodologies

Requirements

• Master’s degree in biology or a related field
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in biology or a related field
• Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, DNA/RNA sequencing, and data analysis
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and detailed scientific records
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "Public Trust" clearance
