Biologist

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fish enhancement projects in the Tenmile, Coos, and Coquille basins
• Monitor fish populations and support habitat restoration efforts
• Assist with environmental oversight and the implementation of fishing regulations
• Provide technical input and support to the District Fish Biologist
• Coordinate with local communities, landowners, and volunteers
• Gather and analyze biological data and prepare technical reports
• Respond to public inquiries regarding fish habitat and population health

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Fisheries, Wildlife Science, or a closely related field
• Two years of biological experience performing research, studies, or resource management
• Ability to obtain HAZWOPER certification within six months of appointment
• Ability to obtain an Oregon State Marine Board Boater Education Certificate within six months of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical experience with fisheries science and population monitoring methods
• Experience in community outreach and communicating technical concepts to the public
• Proven project coordination and organizational skills
• Proficiency in biological data collection and statistical analysis
• Experience in problem-solving related to fish habitat and regulatory changes
