About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement fish enhancement projects in the Tenmile, Coos, and Coquille basins
- Monitor fish populations and support habitat restoration efforts
- Assist with environmental oversight and the implementation of fishing regulations
- Provide technical input and support to the District Fish Biologist
- Coordinate with local communities, landowners, and volunteers
- Gather and analyze biological data and prepare technical reports
- Respond to public inquiries regarding fish habitat and population health
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fisheries, Wildlife Science, or a closely related field
- Two years of biological experience performing research, studies, or resource management
- Ability to obtain HAZWOPER certification within six months of appointment
- Ability to obtain an Oregon State Marine Board Boater Education Certificate within six months of appointment
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical experience with fisheries science and population monitoring methods
- Experience in community outreach and communicating technical concepts to the public
- Proven project coordination and organizational skills
- Proficiency in biological data collection and statistical analysis
- Experience in problem-solving related to fish habitat and regulatory changes
